Garrett Braunton was the team's top performer on three of the six events.
NORMAN, Okla. – With a fourth-place finish on the high bar, Air Force sophomore Garrett Braunton claimed the top event finish for the men's gymnastics team this evening (Jan. 22), as the squad suffered a 401.500-365.650 setback to top-ranked Oklahoma in Norman.
Braunton, who registered a season-high score of 12.900 during that fourth-place finish, was one of three Falcons to place within the top half of the field during the team's first conference dual of the year. Senior Noah Everett notched a 12.400 to take fifth on the pommel horse, while sophomore Oliver Zavel earned the same placement on the parallel bars following a season-high 13.150 performance.
In addition to his team-leading finish on the high bar, Braunton added season-high marks to post the Falcons' top finishes (sixth) on the floor exercise (12.250) and vault (14.050). Classmate Jacob Becchetti improved his score on the still rings by nearly one point (12.750) to earn the same finish on that event and round out the Falcons' list of top performers.
Air Force is off from competition until Saturday, Feb. 12, when it travels to Dallas, Texas, to face Army West Point and Navy at the annual All-Academy Championships.
