The 13th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team returns to action this Sunday (Feb. 20), when it travels to California to face the ninth-ranked Bears in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet at Haas Pavilion
MEET INFORMATION
The conference dual meet between Air Force and California will take place at 2:00 p.m. (PT) inside Haas Pavilion on the UC Berkeley campus. Admission is free. The meet will be streamed live on Pac-12.com, while live results will be available through the virtius system.
HOMECOMING WEEK
Beckett Andersen is the only California native on the Falcons' 2022 roster (San Luis Obispo).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
California, which is coming off a 415.350-391.300 loss to Stanford last Sunday, is ranked ninth in the national standings with a three-score average of 390.417. The Bears hold Top 5 ranking on the parallel bars (fourth, 66.367), while also holding top-10 marks on the floor exercise (seventh), pommel horse (ninth), vault (ninth) and high bar (eighth). Individually, Caleb Rickard is ranked among the country's Top 10 on the vault, as his three-score average of 14.467 is ranked ninth.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
Air Force, which has competed in the minimum number of meets for the current national ranking criteria (based on three-score averages), is currently ranked 13th in the NCAA with a three-score average of 356.267. The Falcons are ranked 11th or 13th in each event, while Garrett Braunton holds a Top 20 individual ranking on the still rings (13.267).
LAST TIME OUT
Following a three-week hiatus, Air Force returned to action on Feb. 12, when it tallied a season-high 379.900 to finish third at the All-Academy Championships in Frisco, Texas. Garrett Braunton, Collin Hickey and Oliver Zavel combined for eight top-five finishes, as a member of that trio led the team in every event.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
The Falcons will take a break from team competition next week (Feb. 25-27) for the Winter Cup Challenge in Frisco, Texas, before returning to action – and California – for a triangular meet at Stanford on March 5.
