Last Time Out
-Air Force proved to be the more effective side on January 23, as the Falcons picked up their first win of the 2022 season defeating Centenary College 192.450-187.650. The Air Force freshmen group picked up a mighty bit of slack on Sunday, giving the Air Force lineup consistent point-scorers.
-As she did in her collegiate debut against Utah State, freshman Genevieve Sabado turned in a Renaissance performance for Air Force, posting team-best scores in three of her four events. The C4C claimed first-place in the uneven bars (9.800), balance beam (9.700), and shared the top spot in the floor exercise with teammate Cameo Stapleton (9.825). Sabado also took the all-around crown, managing a 38.825 overall score.
-Fellow freshman Ayla McKean was just behind Sabado in the all-around, garnering a 38.500 across her four events . McKean took second-overall in the uneven bars (9.750) while sharing second-place in the vault (9.725). Velandra Brochi, another freshman for Coach Green, recorded a 9.775 in the vault, good for first-place in the event.
Sabado is Stellar
-Genevieve Sabado has opened eyes through her first two meets as a Falcon, and after taking the top spots in three of the four events against Centenary College on January 23, the firstie was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Freshman of the Week.
-The award is Sabado's first collegiate weekly honor, as she becomes the sixth-different gymnast to claim weekly MPSF honors in the midst of head coach Jennifer's Green's tenure.
Coach Green's Recap vs. Centenary College
-"Today was a battle from warmups to the last competitor," said head coach Jennifer Green. "I'm proud of how the team owned their word of building. We had lots of last-minute changes and they handled it with honor and grace. We look forward to having our home crowd behind us this weekend!"
After Alaska-Anchorage, UC-Davis
Following Air Force's dual and tri events at USAFA, the Falcons will travel to Sacramento State for competition against the Hornets on Friday, February 4. The meet is scheduled to start at 8:00 pm MT.
