Air Force Travels to California for Three Meets

The Falcons will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational.
The Air Force track and field team heads to southern California this weekend for a busy stretch of high-level competition, as it represents the Academy at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 14-15), Mt. SAC Relays (April 14-16) and Beach Invitational (April 15-16) – three prestigious meets back on the Falcons' schedule after being cancelled during the last two seasons.
MEET INFORMATION | BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL (APRIL 14-15)
The Bryan Clay Invitational, which will host a handful of Falcons on April 14-15, will be held at Cougar Athletic Stadium on the campus of Azusa Pacific University in Azusa. Admission is $10 for spectators. Live results will be available through FinishedResults.com, and FloTrack will broadcast the meet through its subscription service.
MEET INFORMATION | MT SAC RELAYS (APRIL 14-16)
The prestigious Mt. SAC Relays, which runs from April 14-16, will be held at the newly-renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut – a return to the historic track after a seven-year absence due to the renovation (2016-19) and pandemic (2020-21). Tickets are $15 on Thursday, $20 on Friday, and $25 on Saturday. Live results will be available via FinishedResults.com and the meet will be streamed on USATF.tv.
MEET INFORMATION | BEACH INVITATIONAL (APRIL 15-16)
The 26th-annual Beach Invitational – a fixture on the Falcons' schedule – will be held at Jack Rose Track on the Long Beach State University campus on April 15-16. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for youth (3-12) and seniors (60+), while a Clear Bag Policy is in effect for all spectators. Live results will be available at FinishedResults.com.
LINDEMAN SET FOR INDUCTION INTO LONG BEACH STATE HALL OF HONOR
Long-time Air Force head coach Ralph Lindeman, who served as the head coach of the men's and women's track & field and cross country programs at Long Beach State from 1984-89, will be inducted into their Hall of Honor during a special ceremony for the Class of 2022 prior to the start of Saturday's running events.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
Ryan Johnson (22nd in the 5000-meter run, 13:45.86), Bryce Lentz (23rd in the 3000-meter steeplechase, 8:49.11), Ryan Ioanidis (27th in the 10,000-meter run, 28:44.03) and Wyatt Murphy (30th in the decathlon, 6990 points) are all listed among the NCAA Top 30 in their respective events.
SQUAD GOALS
The men have three event groups listed within the Top 6 of the April 11 edition of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings. The high jump quartet of Jalan Rivers, Jake Hall, Collin Schulz and Philip Hundl are listed third with a combined clearance of 26'10¾", while Hundl is also part of the 400-meter hurdles group that is ranked fifth in 3:36.10 (La'akea Aiu, Darek Hackett, Cameron Breier). The 5000-meter quartet of Ryan Johnson, Luke Combs, Eli Bennett and Scott Maison are ranked sixth (55:41.81).
ON DECK
After a busy week that saw Air Force competing in three different meets, the Falcons will slow down next week, with just one meet on the schedule – Colorado State's Jack Christiansen Invitational (April 22-23).
