Falcons Set for Jack Christiansen Invitational

The Air Force track and field team heads to Fort Collins, Colo., this weekend, as the Falcons face their Front Range counterparts at the Jack Christiansen Invitational

MEET INFORMATION
The Jack Christiansen Invitational will take place on April 22-23 at Colorado State's track of the same name. The meet will feature both collegiate and high school events (a tentative schedule of Air Force events is listed below). Admission is free and any links for results will be posted to the Falcons' schedule page once available.

SCHEDULE OF AIR FORCE EVENTS | TENTATIVE
10:00 a.m.: Men's Discus Throw; TBA (at the conclusion of the women's discus throw): Men's Javelin Throw, Women's Javelin Throw; 10:00 a.m.: Men's High Jump; TBA (at the conclusion of the high school pole vault, which starts at 10:00 a.m.: Women's Pole Vault, followed by Men's Pole Vault; 11:20 a.m.: 4x100-Meter Relay; 11:50 a.m.: 1500-Meter Run; 12:50 p.m.: Men's 110-Meter Hurdles; 1:10 p.m.: Men's 100-Meter Dash; 1:35 p.m.: 400-Meter Dash; 1:55 p.m.: 800-Meter Run; 2:00 p.m.: Women's Long Jump; 2:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump; 3:35 p.m.: Men's 400-Meter Hurdles; 4:00 p.m.: Women's Triple Jump; 4:00 p.m.: Men's Triple Jump; 4:00 p.m.: 200-Meter Dash; 5:00 p.m.: Men's 3000-Meter Steeplechase (women will compete first in all running events, unless otherwise listed)

AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
Sam Gilman is ranked 18th in the NCAA at 5000 meters, after clocking a time of 13:33.26 at the Mt SAC Relays. Two other Falcons – Bryce Lentz (34th in the 3000-meter steeplechase, 8:49.11; Ryan Ioanidis (37th in the 10,000-meter run, 28:44.03) – are ranked in the Top 40 of their respective events.

SQUAD GOALS
The men's high jump is ranked third in the April 18 edition of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings, as the quartet of Jake Hall, Jalan Rivers, Collins Schulz and Philip Hundl have a combined clearance of 27'0". Hundl is also part of the 400-meter hurdles group that is ranked sixth with a time of 3:35.13 (La'akea Aiu, Darek Hackett, Cameron Breier), while the 5000-meter quartet of Sam Gilman, Ryan Johnson, Luke Combs and Eli Bennett are ranked seventh with a combined mark of 55:06.1.

REMEMBERING COACH LINDEMAN
Head coach Ralph Lindeman passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2022, during his 33rd season with the Falcons. From the moment he stepped onto the Academy track in 1989, Air Force benefitted from his leadership and love of coaching. He coached 10 conference championship teams during his distinguished tenure, while Lindeman-coached athletes accounted for eight NCAA titles, more than 200 conference championships and nearly 700 academic all-conference honors.

ON DECK
The Falcons split next weekend (April 28-30), as part of the squad travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for the famed Drake Relays and the rest heads to Clovis, Calif., for the Fresno Invitational.
