U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – As the 2023 season gets underway for the Air Force women's gymnastics team, the Falcons prepare for their first road performance, coming in the form of a quad-meet at Texas Women's University on Friday night in Denton, Texas.
Along with the Falcons, the evening lineup includes host TWU, along with Centenary College (Shreveport, LA) and Wisconsin Eau-Claire.
Last Time Out:
Air Force showed out in its 2023 debut in the Cadet West Gym on Monday, posting a 194.150 – the highest composite score in a season opener in the program's history.
The Falcons, despite falling short in the composite against San Jose State, opened their season without scoring any falls in the opening four rotations of 2023 and topped SJSU in the floor exercise behind a 48.825-point performance. In the rotation, freshmen Kylee Greene and Sarah Willis made their career starts, posting 9.825 (T2) and 9.625 respective points.
To couple with her floor performance, Greene posted top-five results in vault (T4, 9.700) and beam (T4, 9.800).
Senior Amber Boll notched a second-place performance on bars, scoring a 9.800 along with tying Greene on balance beam (9.800).
In the floor exercise, sophomore Briona Carswell tied Greene's 9.825, with sophomore Velandra Brochi claiming fifth in the event, pulling a 9.800.

Air Force includes 21 competitors for the 2023 season, boasting a total of eight USA Gymnastics All-American honors and nine All-MPSF selections from 2022 including MPSF Freshman of the Year Genevieve Sabado.
The Falcons' roster includes eight newcomers for 2023 (Sayge Berger, Madison Carlisle, Kylee Greene, Gabriella Hartley, Gianna Martyna, Addison Moore, Janie Ottenbreit, Sarah Willis) boasting 13 total championship awards, including one at the national level and two regional titles.
Looking Ahead:
In 2023, the Falcons host four separate home meets across a three-month coast-to-coast campaign - A season punctuated by Air Force's hosting of the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) Championship on the USAFA campus for the sixth time since 2002. The postseason event will be held on March 18 at Clune Arena for the first time in the venue's storied history.
