Falcons Continue Action at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. – The Air Force track and field team made three improvements to the Academy Record Book on Friday (April 14), as a small handful of Falcons continued competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa.
AIR FORCE TOP-10 MARKS
No. 8 – Ava Gilliana, 800-Meter Run (2:10.65)
Junior Ava Gilliana debuted in the program's Top 10 after recording the eighth-fastest 800-meter time in program history during the afternoon session at Cougar Stadium. Posting a personal-best 2:10.65, Gilliana improved her time by three seconds, won her section by almost one second, and finished fifth overall in an event that featured more than 140 runners.
The men's record book received its update in the final race of the night, as senior Scott Maison became the 18th runner in program history to dip below the 14-minute mark in the 5000-meter run. Clocking a career-best time of 13:54.87, Maison knocked more than five seconds off his previous best to move into 14th on the- program's all-time standings and finish fourth in his section of the Elite races.
Elsewhere on the track, senior Stephanie Gregersen clocked a season-best time of 2:15.16 to finish within the top half of the field in the women's 800-meter race, while junior Alex Patton finished just shy of his personal best in the men's Invitational section of that distance (1:51.91).
Earlier in the evening, junior Brian Hubbard wrapped up two days of decathlon action with a career-best total of 6581 points – a personal 377-point improvement that moved the junior into 16th on the Academy's all-time standings. Hubbard, who finished seventh in the 10-event competition, recorded a 15.10 in the 110-meter hurdles, a 97'11" in the discus, a 13'9¼" in the pole vault and a 138'7" in the javelin throw, before closing out Thursday's meet with a career-best time of 4:51.59 in the 1500-meter run.
The Falcons close out their busy weekend in Southern California tomorrow (April 15), with the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and the last day of the Beach Invitational in Long Beach.
