U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Guy Blessing was named the Atlantic Hockey America Goalie of the Week as he led the Falcons to a sweep of Canisius, Nov. 8 and 10.
In the two games, Blessing stopped 48 of 49 shots for a goals-against average of 0.50 and a saves percentage of .980.
In game one, the Chandler, Ariz., native stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career. Ten of his 21 saves came in the third period with four of them coming in the extra-attacker situation.
In the second game, he stopped 27 of 28 shots with the only goal being a power-play redirect in the second period. On Austin Schwartz's game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in the third period, Blessing earned his first assist of the season and second of his career.
The Goalie of the Week award is Blessing's second of the season and fifth of his career (one as a sophomore, two as a junior and two this season). It is the third AHA weekly award for the Falcons this season.
In four conference games this season, Blessing has stopped 96 of 101 shots for a 1.26 GAA and a .950 saves percentage as the Falcons are 3-1-0 in league play.
