Falcons Set for First Trip to Windy City Invitational

The Air Force track and field team heads to Chicago this weekend (Feb. 9-10) in its first-ever appearance at the Windy City Invitational
MEET INFORMATION
The Windy City Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin, will be held at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago on Feb. 9-10 (a schedule of events is listed below). Tickets can be purchased via TicketWeb.com for $15 each day, while a two-day package can be purchased for $25. Results will be available at AdkinsTrak.com (a direct link is available on the team's schedule page).
WHO'S WHO
Seventeen schools are scheduled to compete at the Windy City Invitational, including three with nationally ranked squads. The full lineup includes Air Force, DePaul, Florida A&M, Howard, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota (No. 22 women), Notre Dame (No. 19 women), Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma (No. 25 men, No. 25 women), Purdue, Rutgers, South Florida and Tulsa.

Three Falcons – Anna Harden (Arlington Heights), Sean Maison (Wheaton), Jettason Rose (Quincy) – hail from the state of Illinois, while Will Allen (Trevor, Wis.) grew up just north of the Wisconsin/Illinois border.
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Three Falcons are listed among the nation's top 25 in the latest TFRRS standings (Feb. 5). Luke Combs holds a No. 21 placement in the 5000-meter run after following his season-opening 13:32.08 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, while Caiden Macktinger (pole vault) and Texas Tanner (shot put) are listed at No. 23 in their respective events. Macktinger's mark comes from his career-best clearance of 17'7" at the Air Force Holiday Opener, while Texas Tanner best throw came from an Academy Record distance of 60'8¾" at the Potts Invitational.
SQUAD GOALS
With a combined time of 55:48.08, the men's 5000-meter quartet of Luke Combs, Eli Bennett, Jason Renze and Jett Knight are ranked sixth in the Feb. 5 edition of the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings – which are determined by the cumulative season-best marks from a team's top-four athletes in the national descending order list. The men currently have three event groups listed in the nation's Top 20, including the 19th-ranked pole vault (19.81m from Caiden Macktinger, Robert Postell, Tanner Woodring, Wyatt Curl) and weight throw (74.32m from Texas Tanner, Gerrit Tamminga, Cooper Stroka, Massimo Grisotto) squads.
MAISON, CURL CAPTURE WEEKLY MOUNTAIN WEST AWARDS
Air Force claimed a pair of weekly awards from the conference office on Feb. 6, as Sean Maison was named the Mountain West Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Wyatt Curl was honored as the Mountain West Men's Freshman of the Week.
WHAT'S ON DECK
The Falcons return to the Academy next Friday (Feb. 16) to close out the home portion of the indoor season with the Air Force Last Chance. The meet, the last competition before the MW Indoor Championships, will also serve as the final meet with the current configuration of the Cadet Field House Indoor Track, as the facility will begin a major renovation at the conclusion of the indoor season.
