Falcons Conclude Action at Air Force Twilight

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Highlighted by a major rewrite to the Academy standings in the men's sprints, the Air Force track and field team closed out the regular season and celebrated the 29 members of its senior class this afternoon (May 3) when it hosted its annual Air Force Twilight Open at the Cadet Outdoor Complex.
The men's 200-meter sprint squad accounted for five of the 12-fastest times in Air Force history – including three of the program's top 10. Junior Javin Bostic matched his career-best – and the No. 2 time in program history – to win the race in 20.67, while sophomore Jettason Rose clocked the program's fifth-fastest time (20.92) and freshman Jace Martin debuted in the top 10 with a time of 21.17 (No. 10). Senior Jackson Connelly, in his last race on the Falcons' blue track, moved up to No. 11 on the all-time standings with a time of 21.22 and freshman James Warmbrod IV entered the 200-meter record book with a time of 21.24.
Rose, Connelly, Martin and Bostic also combined for the third-fastest 4x100-meter time in program history (40.07), while Connelly added a win in the 100-meter dash (10.50) and Martin equaled the No. 13 time in that event (10.58) to finish second.
While wind kicked up during the women's 200-meter dash (+2.8), junior Taylor Rioux became the first Falcon to run sub-24 in that event, as she crossed the finish line in a time of 23.85 – the fastest all-condition time in Air Force history.
At 100-meters, freshman Anna Lindsley posted a time of 12.45 to debut at No. 15 on the Academy's all-time standings. Freshman Allison Fernstrom earned the top time in both of the women's hurdle events, posting a wind-aided 14.79 in the high hurdles and a 64-flat in the intermediate hurdles, while seniors Philip Hundl and (13.91) and Seth Meador (13.94) went 1-2 in a windy 110-meter hurdles race and junior Cameron Breier finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.78. Junior Tiaree Towler (4:49.64) and senior Sean Maison (3:50.76) won their respective 1500-meter events, while sophomore Ben Scheller, who finished second to Maison in the men's race (3:53.80), used an altitude-adjusted time of 3:45.10 to debut at No. 14 on the Academy's all-time standings.
Backed by first-place finishes in the discus (55.39m, 181'9") and hammer (70.11m, 240'0") from sophomore Texas Tanner, the men swept the event titles in the four throwing events. Freshman Mitchell Blakeslee finished first in the shot put with a throw of 14.75 meters (48'4½"), while senior Teagun Glenn recorded a distance of 58.95 meters (193'5") on his final attempt to win the javelin throw. Tanner and senior Gerrit Tamminga (third in the discus, 51.47m/168'10"; second in the hammer, 64.70m/212'3") to two of the top-three marks in the discus and three of the top-four standings in the hammer throw, as junior Cooper Stroka improved his No. 4 mark on the program's all-time standings with a career-best, fourth-place throw of 64.09 meters (210'3"). The Falcons' throwing unit earned one additional first-place finish, as senior Alexxis Brown won the women's javelin with a mark of 42.49 meters (139'5").
Elsewhere in the field, freshman Alex Brooks matched her best clearance at Air Force – and the No. 13 height in program history, as she won the all-Air Force pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters (12'3½"), while Tanner Woodring was the top collegiate finisher (second overall) in the men's event following a career-best clearance of 4.90 meters (16'0¾"). Seniors Katie Thompson and Brandon Lindner posted the top marks in their final trips down the long jump runway at the Cadet Outdoor Track, as Thompson posted a wind-aided leap of 5.83 meters (19'1½") in the women's event and Lindner recorded a 7.46-meter (24'5¾") distance in the men's event.
With the regular season now complete, the Falcons turn their attention to the postseason – which begins next week (May 9-11) at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Clovis, California.
