Falcons Wrap up Action at Desert Heat Classic
5/3/2025 11:37:00 PM | Track and Field
TUCSON, Ariz. – Backed by two Senior Class Records and the 10th-fastest 200-meter time in Air Force history from freshman Asher Jenkins, a small contingent of athletes from the track and field team wrapped up competition at the Desert Heat Classic this evening (May 3) in Tucson.
Lowering his 200-meter time to 21.13, Jenkins accounted for the 10th-fastest time in program history during an eighth-place finish in the 45-sprinter event. Jenkins, the fastest freshman in the meet, was one of two Falcons to finish with the top eight, as senior Javin Bostic added a sixth-place time of 20.95. Their finishes in the 200-meter dash were the exact opposite of their placements in the 100-meter event, where Jenkins clocked a wind-aided time of 10.29 to finish sixth and Bostic reset his own Air Force Senior Class Record with an eighth-place time of 10.31.
On the women's side, Taylor Rioux reset her own Senior Class Record in the 200-meter dash, as she lowered her mark from the indoor season down to 24.15 – a time that placed within the top half of the 61-sprinter field (27th). The senior also finished within the top half of the 400-meter standings, as she used a time of 54.82 – a mark just 0.02 off the Class standard she set in her last race – to finish 21st out of 42 runners.
The Falcons picked up a pair of eighth-place finishes in the high jump on Saturday, as freshman Morgan Glaser recorded a clearance of 1.74 meters (5'8½") in the women's event and senior Jalan Rivers posted a season-best height of 2.01 meters (6'7") in the men's meet.
The Falcons return to action – and the Academy – next Friday (May 9), when they host the Air Force Twilight Open at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
