
Wasik and Christian earn AHA Weekly Awards

U.S AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Junior Dominik Wasik and freshman Cole Christian earned Atlantic Hockey America weekly awards in helping lead Air Force to a sweep of Sacred Heart, Jan. 30-31. Wasik was named the Goaltender of the Week while Christian was named the Rookie of the Week.
Wasik, from Superior, Colo., allowed just two goals in 51 shots in the series for a .961 saves percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average. Wasik earned his second career shutout by making 21 saves in the 2-0 win over Sacred Heart, Jan. 31. In four wins over Sacred Heart this season, he has a 1.25 GAA and a .957 saves percentage. He has made 21 straight starts and ranks fifth in the league in GAA (2.45) and sixth in saves percentage (.910).
Christian, from Duluth, Minn., had two points (1-1-2) in the SHU series, with three shots on goal, a blocked shot and was a +2. In the 5-2 win over Sacred Heart in game one, he had a career high two points (1-1-2) and scored his first career game-winner in the third period. He also had the primary assist on the fifth goal to seal the win.
The weekly award is the third for Wasik this season and in his career. The award for Christian is the first of his collegiate career. They earned the eighth and ninth weekly awards for the Falcons this season.
Air Force (13-11-2, 9-8-1 AHA) travels to Niagara for a two-game AHA series, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 6-7, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
