Ben Kinne is in his second season as the director of hockey operations at the Air Force Academy.
Kinne came to the Academy from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) where he served as an assistant coach for t three seasons. Prior to his time in Cedar Rapids, he worked as an assistant coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota from 2014–16 and helped guide the team to their first winning season since 2003–04.
Kinne played four seasons of Division I hockey at Bemidji State (MN) under head coach Tom Serratore. He was a two-time captain and made the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s (WCHA) all-academic team for three seasons. In his four seasons with Bemidji State, he compiled 32 goals and 44 assists. Additionally, he played in two NCAA National Championship Tournaments, participating in the Frozen Four during the 2008-09 season.
Prior to his time at Bemidji State, while skating for the Topeka Roadrunners (NAHL), he recorded 20 goals and 17 assists in 59 games. Kinne then played for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) for one season, tallying 17 goals and 26 assists in 60 games.
Kinne graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in 2006. He earned all-state honorable mention honors while helping lead the Raiders to the Minnesota State High School League state title.
Kinne, and his wife, Bri, have one son, Kayson.
