Falcons Fall to Top-Ranked Sooners

Allen Shadan and Garrett Braunton combined to lead Air Force in four of the six events.
NORMAN, Okla. – The Air Force men's gymnastics team dropped a 413.750-374.400 contest to top-ranked Oklahoma this evening (Jan. 23), during its first road competition of the season. Senior Allen Shadan and freshman Garrett Braunton combined to lead the Falcons in four events during the meet against their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation counterparts at McCasland Field House.
Shadan and Braunton picked up fifth-place finishes on the parallel bars (13.500) and high bar (13.200), respectively, while Shadan equaled his personal-best of 13.300 to tie for sixth on the still rings and Braunton posted a career-high of 14.100 – the 15th-best mark in Academy history – to earn the same placement on the vault.
Senior Frankie Valentin, who combined for a 73.700 in the all-around, accounted for a season-best score of 12.900 to lead Air Force on the floor exercise, while senior Ethan Esval and junior Noah Everett shared the team's top score (12.650) to tie for sixth on the pommel horse.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Feb. 13, when they travel to West Point, N.Y., for the annual All-Academy Championships against their counterparts from Army and Navy.
