Air Force Heads to Arizona for Jim Click Shootout

The Falcons will also travel to Boulder for the Colorado Invitational.
The Air Force track and field splits for another pair of meets this weekend. The majority of the team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the Jim Click Shootout on April 7-9, while the rest of the squad heads to Boulder for the Colorado Invitational on April 8-9.

The Jim Click Shootout, which will be held at Drachman Stadium on April 7-9, will feature Air Force and Power 5 teams from Arizona, Iowa, Kansas State, Nebraska, TCU and Wisconsin – with the Iowa women holding a No. 23 placement in the latest USTFCCCA rankings. Competition begins with the Decathlon on Thursday and Friday, while the Shootout itself will take place on Saturday. A tentative schedule of events are listed below and live results will be available via Finished Results.

The Colorado Invitational, which will include squads from across the Front Range, will be held at Potts Field on the University of Colorado's East Campus (intersection of Innovation Drive and Discovery Drive). The hammer throw, javelin throw and triple jump will take place on Friday (April 8), beginning at 2:00 p.m., while the remainder of the events will take place on Saturday (April 9), beginning at 11:00 a.m. (MT). A complete schedule of events is listed below. Admission is free on Friday and $8 on Saturday, and all spectators are required to adhere to Colorado's Clear Bag Policy. Bryce Lentz (20th in the 3000-meter steeplechase, 8:49.11), Ryan Johnson (22nd in the 5000-meter run, 13:45.86), Brian Hubbard (24th in the decathlon, 6204 points) and Ryan Ioanidis (27th in the 10,000-meter run, 28:44.03) are all listed among the NCAA Top 30 in their respective events.
SQUAD GOALS
The men have three event groups listed within the Top 6 of the first USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings of the outdoor season. The 400-meter hurdles (3:37.03 – La'akea Aiu, Darek Hackett, Cameron Breier, Philip Hundl) and 5000-meter run (55:41.81 – Ryan Johnson, Luke Combs, Eli Bennett, Scott Maison) are both ranked fifth in the standings, while the high jump quartet of Jake Hall, Collin Schulz, Jalan Rivers and Hundl are listed sixth with a combined clearance of 26'5¾".

In addition to competing at the newly-renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut on April 14-16, Air Force will also compete at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (April 14) and Beach Invitational (April 15-16) – two meets both held at Long Beach State.
