
Falcons Place 37 on Academic All-MW List

The 22 men and 15 women were some of the school-record 97 cadet-athletes to earn recognition.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Thirty-eight members of the Air Force track and field team were named to the Mountain West Academic All-Conference Team this afternoon (July 11), as the conference office announced its honorees for the Spring of 2022. The program's 22 men and 15 women were some of the school-record 97 cadet-athletes to earn recognition today.
Highlighting the team's list of representatives were recent Academy graduates Garrett Blenkush (3.51, aeronautical engineering), Ethan Gardner (3.32, mechanical engineering), Sean Geither (3.96, aeronautical engineering), Brid O'Connell (3.43, operations research), Michelle Roca (3.87, biology), and Erika Willis (3.77, biology) who captured academic all-conference accolades for the fourth-straight season.
With these six additions, 79 Falcons have now earned academic all-MW honors in all four years.
Classmates Ryan Ioanidis (3.41, foreign area studies/political science), Jenna Kill (3.77, applied mathematics), Will Kitzhaber (3.50, legal studies), Frank Rossi (3.97, applied mathematics) and Adrianna Wilder (3.23, systems engineering management) all claimed their third academic all-MW distinction in track and field, after also collecting the honor during their cross country careers. Fellow 2022 graduates Calvin Ciganik (3.11, civil engineering) and Joseph Wittig (3.95, geospatial science) earned their second academic honor, while Ryan Brown (3.00, biology) and Ari Martinez (3.07, English) picked up their first.
Juniors Aidan Boyle (3.82, management), Nico Fraser (3.67, biology) and Katie Van Havel (3.68, biology) were named to academic all-conference list for the third-straight year, while Ally Stauffer (3.35, biology) earned her second academic certificate from the Mountain West.
Nine sophomores – Eli Bennett (3.35, aeronautical engineering), Jackson Connelly (3.36, economics), Amanda Fraga (3.14, data science), Brian Hubbard (3.63, aeronautical engineering), Philip Hundl (3.68, operations research), Brandon Lindner (3.28, systems engineering), Gerrit Tamminga (3.37, management), Katie Thompson (3.78, biochemistry), Rebecca Wusinich (3.91, legal studies) – all repeated as academic all-conference selections, while Keith Oswald (3.71, civil engineering) earned his first accolade after joining the team the past season.
Freshmen Jessie Boult (3.13, undeclared), Cameron Breier (3.08, chemistry), Gabe Grim (3.53, biology), Bryce Lentz (3.30, geospatial science), Ally Peterson (3.59, biology), Jason Renze (3.78, astronautical engineering), Taylor Rioux (3.10, biology) and Katie Schlather (3.19, systems engineering) rounded out the program's list of academic all-conference selections with their first conference honor.
A total of 1,266 student-athletes were named to the Mountain West's academic all-conference team for the spring semester, which included baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. To be eligible for 2022 Spring Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or better and be a significant contributor to their respective team.
