USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Headlined by all-conference performances from senior Ally Peterson and junior Zach Ayers, the Air Force cross country team wrapped up action at the 2024 Mountain West Cross Country Championships this morning (Nov. 1) at the Academy's Eisenhower Golf Course. Overall, the women finished fourth and the men took fifth in the first conference meet held at Air Force in 11 years.
Peterson, who became the seventh member of the women's team to capture multiple all-conference honors in cross country with her second-straight ninth-place finish (20:52.0), paced the Falcons' full scoring lineup to finishes within the top 25 of the 92-runner event. Classmate Halle Hamilton placed 15th with a 6K time of 21:13.3, while fellow senior Tiaree Towler and junior India Jones finished 17th (21:19.0) and 18th (21:231), respectively, to add two more top-20 finishes tot the Falcons' lineup. Sophomore Anna Harden rounded out Air Force's scorers with a 25th-place time of 21:36.7 – marking just the third time that all five scorers have finished in the top 25 (2003, 2016) of a Mountain West meet.
Eighth-ranked New Mexico won the women's meet with 32 points, while Boise State and Colorado State – both receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll, rounded out the top three by placing second (54) and third (79), respectively. Air Force recorded 84 points for its lowest score since 2019 – and third-lowest overall – to finish fourth and distance itself from the rest of the 11-team field by nearly 20 points.
