
Air Force Downed At San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 75-64 contest at San Jose State (11-12, 4-7 MW) in Mountain West play Saturday afternoon at Provident Credit Union Events Center. Senior Ethan Taylor paced five Falcons in double figures scoring with 15 points.
San Jose State shot 50 percent from three and blocked 10 shots to pull away with the win. Josh Uduje scored 24 points for the Spartans and center Robert Vaihola had seven blocked shots.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle that saw five lead changes. San Jose State got up by six midway through the half, before Air Force came back to take the lead with an 8-2 run to lead 27-26 with 1:57 to go in the half.
The Spartans, who shot a blistering 7-of-10 from three in the first half, would counter with a 11-2 run to close the half, knocking down three three's during the run.
The Falcons upped their scoring with 35 points in the second half, but San Jose State scored 38. Air Force was within three points in the second half at the 14:46 mark, but a 9-0 SJSU run had the Spartans up double-digits at 53-41 at 11:50 left in game. The Falcons were unable to get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Air Force had five players in double figures scoring for the first time this season. Taylor knocked down five three's for his 15 points. It was his fourth straight with at least four three's in a game. Kyle Marshall notched his first-career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Luke Kearney added 13 points, scoring 11 in the first-half. The post players, Wesley Celichowski and Caleb Walker scored 10 points each.
Air Force out-rebounded SJSU 39-32. Its 17 offensive rebounds was a season-high.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 4, hosting Nevada. The game tips at Clune Arena at 7 pm MT and will be broadcast on Altitude2 and MWN.
