Air Force Updates Distance Standings at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Backed by four Air Force Top 8 performances, eight members of the Air Force distance squad raced up the program's all-time standings on Fright (April 4).as the team opened competition at the Stanford Invitational. Junior Zach Ayers headlined the Falcons' night at Cobb Track with the third-fastest 5000-meter performance in Air Force history.
Jones and sophomore Ella Johnson accounted for two of the eight-fastest 10,000-meter times in Air Force history tonight on Cobb Track, as Jones posted a time of 33:39.58 in the Invitational section to improve her own No. 4 mark on the program's all-time standings and Johnson clocked a 34:21 15 in her first collegiate 10K to finish within the top half of her 38-runner section and debut at No. 8 all-time at Air Force.
The men's record book also received an update in the 10,000-meter run on Friday, as junior Jayden Nats closed out the distance carnival with the seventh-fastest time in Air Force history – a 29:02.36 finish that also broth the Academy's four-year-old Junior Class Record for 10,000 meters.
Ayers clocked a 5000-meter time of 13:36.08 to vault up to No. 3 on the Academy's all-time standings, while freshman Saketh Rudraraju and sophomore Josh Razo debuted at No. 16 (13:54.37) and No. 17 (13:55.34), respectively, on the program's all-time standings. Rudraraju, who opened the day with a first-place finish in his 25-runner section, also became the program's fastest freshman for 5000 meters during his race, as he bettered the Academy's four-year-old Class Record in that event.
A pair of Falcons also debuted in the Air Force Record Book for 1500 meters, as sophomore Rachel Fereday entered the women's rankings at No. 23 with a time of 4:32.41 and junior Ethan Ashley clocked a time of 3:47.43 to take over the No. 25 spot on the men's all-time standings.
The distance squad closes out their trip to California tomorrow (April 5), when a contingent of runners will split their time between the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco.
