Falcons Wrap up Action at Peak Invitational

Frankie Porambo debuted on the program's Top 10 in the pole vault.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Highlighted by the 10th-highest pole vault clearance in Air Force history, the track and field team returned to the Academy this afternoon (Feb. 4) for a successful day of competition at the Invitational at the Peak.
AIR FORCE TOP-10 MARKS
Women's Pole Vault: Frankie Porambo, 12'9" (No. 10 all-time)
Porambo debuted on the program's Top 10 after registering a pole vault clearance of 12'9" – a personal improvement of more than three inches and the 10th-best vault in Air Force history. The senior helped the Falcons to a pair of top-four finishes, as classmate Erika Willis finished fourth with a season-debut of 11'10¾". On the men's side, Air Force accounted for five of the top-six finishes in the 12-vaulter competition. Freshman Robert Postell led the Falcons' contingent, as he equaled his career-best height of 16'0¾" to win the event. Seniors Ethan Gardner and Calvin Ciganik both cleared 15'7" to finish second and fourth, respectively, while sophomore Braeden Holcombe (fifth) and freshman Ben Charlebois (sixth) rounded out the group with matching heights of 15'1".
The men captured six additional first-place finishes on Friday, with freshman Collin Schulz leading Air Force to a sweep of the top-three finishes in the high jump. Schulz cleared 6'9" to win the event, while senior Jake Hall and freshman Jalan Rivers finished second and third, respectively, after clearing matching heights of 6'6¾".
While Postell and Schulz led Air Force to a sweep of the vertical jumps, juniors Hayden Bullock and Jaret Prete did the same in the throwing events. Bullock registered a career-best toss of 53'11¼" – the 17th-best distance in program history – to win the 15-competitor shot put, while Prete posted a season-best toss of 57'2¾" to claim first-place honors in the weight throw. Fellow junior Jace Pittman claimed a top-five finish in the weight throw (fourth, career-best 53'10¼"), while sophomore Gerrit Tamminga placed within the top half of the field in the shot put (seventh, 49'9¾").
The men added a pair of first-place times on the track, as senior Sean Geither won the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.11 – a mark just 0.01 shy of his season best – to win the 23-sprinter event, while sophomore Alex Patton clocked a season debut of 1:54.96 to win the 800-meter run and lead Air Force to two of the top-three spots (freshman Jason Renze, third in a season-best 1:59.05). Junior Cameron Harris, freshman Darek Hackett, Cameron Beier and freshman Charles Whitcomb capped the running events with a winning time of 3:22.17 in the mile relay.
In addition to running in the winning relay, Hackett clocked the 23rd-fastest 60-meter hurdles time in program history (8.10), to post the fastest qualifying time and lead Air Force to three of the top-four finishes in the finals – Hackett (second, 8.13), senior Wyatt Murphy (third, 8.31), sophomore Seth Meador (fourth, 8.34). Senior LaShawn Taylor earned runner-up finishes in both the long jump (23'4¾") and triple jump (49'5½"), while Breier added the same placement in the 400-meter dash with a debut time of 48.94.
On the women's side, senior Grace Proesch won the 400-meter dash in 57.77, while freshman Taylor Rioux and sophomore Zoe Iwu finished second (58.05) and third (58.90), respectively, in the 11-runner event. With her time, Iwu debuted in 24th on the Academy's all-time standings. Junior Aaliyah Ricketts also debuted on the program's Top 25, as she recorded the 18th-best long jump distance during a third-place performance of 17'5½".
