Senior inside linebacker Osaro Aihie has been named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Air Force's 22-19 win at Nevada Nov. 23.

Aihie recorded a career-high seven tackles, including a career-best four unassisted. He also had his first-career interception, returning it 39 yards which is the second-longest by a Falcon this season. His interception came in the fourth quarter with Air Force leading 15-12 with less than five minutes remaining and clinched the game. The Falcons scored on the drive to take a two-score lead with 1:11 left.

Aihie is the first Falcon to win the award this season and first since Trey Taylor earned it vs. Wyoming in 2023. He is the second Falcon to win a weekly honor this season, as kicker Matthew Dapore earned special teams player of the week honors vs. Fresno State. The award is the first of Aihie's career.

Aihie is tied for the team lead in tackles with 57 this season. He has 2.0 sacks for 10 yards, an interception and a pass breakup. He also leads the MW and ranks eighth nationally with two fumbles recoveries.
