CLOVIS, Calif. – The Air Force track and field team claimed two conference titles on Saturday (May 17), as junior Texas Tanner retained his title in the discus throw and the men captured first-place honors in the 4x100-meter relay during the final day of action at the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Championships in Clovis, California.
Tanner successfully defended his Mountain West title in the discus throw – two days after doing the same in the hammer throw. The junior launched a career-best throw of 63.59 meters (208'7") to reset his own Air Force and Service Academy Records, add nearly two meters to the Meet Record that had stood since 2007 and account for the fourth-best throw in conference history. After opening the competition with a throw of 59.83 meters – a mark that would have won the meet by more than two meters, Tanner went 60+ in each of his final three throws – including the record-breaking throw in the fifth round.
Not long after the discus throw concluded, the men returned to the top of the conference podium with a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. Senior Javin Bostic, freshman Asher Jenkins, sophomore James Warmbrod IV, and freshman Brayden Richards – a late anchor to the Falcons' quartet – combined for a 40.14 finish, a 0.11-second victory, and the sixth conference title in program history.
Bostic had a stellar day at Veterans Memorial Stadium, collecting a full set of medals in his final Mountain West championship meet. After leading off the winning relay, Bostic added a third-place time of 10.32 in a photo-finish ending of a 100-meter dash that saw just 0.02 seconds separate the second- and third-place finishers. He returned to the track one hour later to finish second in the 200-meter dash – crossing the finish line in 20.56 to break his own Senior Class Record and account for the second-fastest time in Air Force history.
Jenkins joined Bostic as scoring finishers in the 100- and 200-meter sprints. After placing sixth in the 100-meter dash behind a time of 10.41, Jenkins broke the 21-second barrier in the 200-meter dash to cross the finish line in 20.94 – the sixth-fastest time in Air Force history and a mark that broke a Freshman Class Record that Travis Picou had held since 2005.
In addition to running the third leg of the 4x100-meter championship relay, Warmbrod also led off the 4x400-meter relay that finished fifth in 3:15.16, while Richards – one day removed from placing second in the decathlon, added a seventh-place clearance of 4.86 meters (15'11¼") in the pole vault – an event where he spent part of the warmup anchoring the Falcons' to the conference title.
Sophomore Ryan Hajek, who also ran on the 4x400-meter relay with Warmbrod, sophomore Zachary King and sophomore Jonah Hochstetler, earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (52.83) during his first outdoor championship meet, while freshman Parker Hintz finished eighth in the 800-meter run (1:51.88) during his conference debut and senior Robert Postell closed out his career with that same placement in the pole vault (4.71 meters, 15'5 ½").
On the women's side, senior Ally Peterson claimed her third-straight podium finish in the 5000-meter run (2024 outdoor, 2025 indoor, 2025 outdoor), as she used a strong final push to place third in the meet (16:11.43) and interrupt a podium sweep from New Mexico – the nation's second-ranked 5000-meter squad. The bronze medal performance was one of two scoring finishes for Peterson, who opened the evening with a seventh-place finish in the 1500-meter run (4:27.72).
Peterson wasn't the only senior to score in multiple events for the Falcons on Saturday, as classmate Taylor Rioux finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (55.46) and led off the 4x400-meter relay (freshman Ella Pears, sophomore Rachel Fereday, sophomore Allison Fernstrom) that clocked the eighth-fastest time in Air Force history (3:47.52) to finish eighth in the night's final event.
Backed by a fourth-place finish in the high jump from freshman Morgan Glaser (1.70 meters, 5'7"), three underclassmen scored for the women in individual events. Sophomore Clara Teigland registered the sixth-fastest time in Air Force history (1:01.69) to finish seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, while classmate Camryn Bodine placed eighth in the 800-meter run following a 2:10.44 finish.
Overall, the men finished fourth in the conference standings with 107 points, while the women placed 10th with 28 points. At the conclusion of the meet, Tanner was named the Men's Field Performer of the Meet for the second-straight year.
The Falcons return to action on May 28-31, when select athletes travel to College Station, Texas, for the opening rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The list of participants to the NCAA West Prelim will be announced next week.
