COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Another record-setting meet from junior Texas Tanner headlined the Air Force track and field team's weekend trip to College Station, Texas, for the Ted Nelson Invitational. Resetting his own Academy Records in both throwing events for the second time in three meets this season, Tanner led the Falcons to five Air Force Top 10 performances and six more improvements to the program's extended standings.

Launching a throw of 73'0½" (22.26 meters) on his second attempt of the weight throw, Tanner added nearly two feet to the program standard he set at the season-opening Wyoming Power Meet in December. While all four of his countable throws bested the prior record, his 22.26m heave will be listed across several record books. In addition to resetting his own Air Force standard, Tanner dislodged Navy's Joshua Boarnah from the All-Academy Records by nearly two feet and added almost five feet to the Meet and Facility Records at Texas A&M. That throw also marked the third-best throw in Mountain West history.
The junior wasn't done marking up the record book, however, as he returned to the throwing circle for a record-setting distance of 63'7" (19.38 meters) in the shot put. Adding nearly a foot to his previous record, Tanner won the 24-thrower event by more than three feet, while setting a new Facility Record and resetting his own Service Academy Record.
