Ari Martinez (high jump) and Alexxis Brown (javelin) both registered Air Force Top 10 marks.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Ari Martinez registered the third-best high jump in Academy history and sophomore Alexxis Brown debuted on the program's Top 10 in the javelin this afternoon (April 2), as the track and field team hosted the Front Range Open at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
Martinez added an inch to her lifetime best in the outdoor high jump to move into third on the Air Force Top 10, while Brown improved her personal distance in the javelin by 15 feet to vault from 20th to ninth on the program's all-time standings. In addition, freshman Taylor Rioux debuted on the extended rankings after winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.89 – the 17th-fastest finish in Air Force history – and classmate Hana Hill matched the program's 24th-best pole vault clearance with an event debut of 11'0¾".
Senior Jake Hall cleared 6'8¾" to win the nine-competitor high jump and lead Air Force to the top-three clearances in that event, while junior Zac Larrier (21.38, second) led a trio of Falcons to the top-three collegiate finishes in the 200-meter dash. Freshmen Jalan Rivers and Collin Schulz posted matching heights of 6'6¾" to tie for second behind Hall in the high jump, while sophomore Jackson Connelly and freshman Darek Hackett finished third (21.82) and fourth (22.29), respectively, in the full 200-meter field.
The quartet of senior Sean Geither, sophomore Jackson Connelly, senior Charles Dimnwaobi and Larrier won a 4x100-meter relay dual with Wyoming following a 40.46 performance, while seniors Ethan Gardner and Erika Willis captured pole vault titles over predominantly Air Force fields. Gardner, who earned first-place honors in the men's event with a 15'11¼" clearance, paced the Falcons to three of the top-four spots in the eight-vaulter field, as classmate Ryan Brown finished third (14'7½") and sophomore Braeden Holcombe took fourth (14'1¼"). Willis cleared a season-best 12'4½" to win the women's vault, while classmate Frankie Porambo also surpassed the 12-foot bar (12'0½") to finish second.
