PUEBLO, Colo. -- Air Force wrapped up a windy outdoor opener this afternoon (March 22), as the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird Invitational came to a close in Pueblo. The Falcons accounted for three Air Force Top 10 marks and four first-place finishes during a full day of track and field action at the ThunderBowl.
Freshman Alese Banks headlined the list of record book additions on Saturday, as she debuted at No. 4 on the program's all-time standings for the long jump. In her first outdoor meet, Banks recorded a distance 5.61 meters (18'6¼") during one of just two attempts where the wind didn't impact her outcome to record the fourth-best leap in program history and win the 33-jumper event by two inches. Elsewhere, sophomore Alex Brooks recorded her best outdoor clearance at Air Force (3.85 meters, 12'7½") to debut at No. 10 on the program's all-time standings, while the quartet of senior Javin Bostic, freshman Asher Jenkins, senior Jettason Rose and sophomore Jace Martin combined to equal the fifth-fastest 4x100-meter relay in Air Force history – a 40.13 mark that was initially set by a 2023 relay that also included Bostic.
The women made three additional improvements to the Air Force Record Book on Saturday – with freshman Morgan Glaser being responsible for two of them, as she debuted on the program's all-time standings in both the high jump (1.45 meters, No. 17 all-time) and 400-meter hurdles (1:05.37, No. 23 all-time). The women's 4x100-meter relay, which included senior Taylor Rioux, sophomore Brooke Coleman, freshman Charley Brinks and an anchor leg from Banks, ,combined for a time of 48.78 – a mark that debuted the quartet at No. 19 on the program's all-time list.
Rioux also accounted for a runner-up time of 24.72 in the 200-meter dash and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay that earned that same placement behind a time of 4:01.26. Sophomore Clara Teigland, another member of that runner-up relay, posted a fourth-place time of 1:03.72 in her first intermediate hurdles race of the season, while freshman Leilani Harris clocked a fourth-place time of 2:22.24 in the 800-meter run, and sophomore KarlI Neff rounded out the women's list of top-five finishers with a fifth-place pole vault clearance of 3.45 meters (11'3¾").
On the men's side, Rose and Jenkins had a strong day on the ThunderBowl track. Not only did the pair run on the 4x100-meter relay that matched the fifth-fastest time in Academy history, but Rose finished first out of 70 sprinters in the 200-meter dash (21.41) and Jenkins produced a debut of 10.46 to place second out of 66 athletes in the 100-meter dash. In addition, Rose finished just 0.01 second behind Jenkins for 100 meters (third, 10.47), while Jenkins added a fourth-place time of 21.73 for 200 meters.
With a time of 3:52.80, sophomore Dominykas Remeikis picked up a third-place finish in the 1500-meter run, leading the Falcons to four of the top six finishes in the 84-runner event. Freshman Junior Allen clocked a time of 3:56.10 to finish fourth in the meet, while classmates Saketh Rudraraju and Parker Hintz finished fifth (3:56.18) and sixth (4:00.51), respectively.
