GOLDEN, Colo. – Backed by a strong performance in the sprints and five improvements to the Air Force Top 10, members of the track and field team wrapped two days of competition at the Kit Mayer Classic in Golden on Saturday (April 12) night.
Senior Javin Bostic guided the Air Force sprinters to a dominating day on the track, as he led the Falcons to a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200-meter dash and paced a lineup that accounted for four of the top 10 finishes in the 100-meter dash – while resetting the program's Senior Class Records in both events. Bostic finished first out of 51 sprinters in the 200-meter dash behind a time of 20.87 – a mark that improved a Class standard that Zac Larrier (2023) and Zach Johnson (2017) had previously shared – and reset his own 100-meter Class mark following a 10.42 finish that was the best among collegiate athletes and second in the full 39-sprinter field. Freshman Asher Jenkins, who finished second to Bostic in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.14 (No. 11 all-time at Air Force), added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, as he posted a 10.49 finish to debut at No. 9 in the Air Force Record Book and break a Freshman Class Record that Travis Picou had held since 2005. Junior Jettason Rose completed the 1-2-3 sweep in the 200-meter dash (21.36) and added a third-place time of 10.57 in the 100-meter dash, while sophomore Jace Martin crossed the finish line in 10.81 to round out the Falcons' quartet of top-10 finishers in that event.
The men added a pair of updates to the record book in the 800-meter run, as freshmen Wyatt Cernyar clocked the seventh-fastest time in Air Force history (1:49.69, adjusted for altitude) to finish second in the 39-runner event (1:50.51 raw) and classmate Parker Hintz finished fifth (1:51.98) and debuted at No. 24 on the program's all-time standings (1:51.14a).
Sophomore Clara Teigland improved her own No. 10 mark on the program's all-time standings in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.21), while also debuting at No. 21 in the Academy Record Book for the 100-meter hurdles (14.98) and claiming top 10 finishes in both events. Freshman Morgan Glaser recorded a clearance of 1.70 meters (5'7") to finish second out of 15 athletes in the high jump and move into a tie for seventh on the program's all-time standings, while classmate Ella Pears debuted at No. 14 for 200 meters after clocking 25.58. Taylor Rioux, who finished second in that 200-meter dash behind a wind-aided time of 24-flat, reset her own Air Force Senior Class Record for 400 meters following a runner-up time of 54.89.
Backed by a fourth-place finish from freshman Patrick Allen (3:59.43), the men accounted for three of the top-10 finishes in the 54-runner 1500-meter even – sophomore Patrick Lawson (ninth, 4:02.57), freshman David Sliwinski (10th, 4:03.29), while freshman Junior Allen and sophomore Jevonte Eaves joined Cernyar and Hintz in the top 10 of the 800-meter run, by finishing eighth (1:53.67) and ninth (1:53.73), respectively.
The men accounted for a pair of top 10 finishes in all three of the field events they contested on Saturday, with newcomer Evan Keefe leading the way with a fifth-place distance of 47.08 meters (154'5") in the discus throw during his first meet with the Falcons. Junior Massimo Grisotto added a sixth-place toss of 46.88 meters (153'10") in the discus, while freshman Trevin Jordan and sophomore Arden Jenkins placed sixth (15.13m, 49'7¾") and ninth (14.71m, 48'3¼"), respectively, in the shot put. From the long jump runway, junior Solo Jones finished sixth with a distance of 6.66 meters (21'10¼") and freshman Zachary Hall placed eighth behind a 6.63-meter (21'9") leap.
